National Tree Week is the UK’s largest annual tree celebration. Each year, the country’s conservation sector, volunteer groups and tree-lovers all come together to plant thousands of trees to mark the start of the annual tree planting season. Trees and hedgerows are some of the most powerful tools we have in the fight against climate change and the good news is that you can get involved to.

You can find all the details at treecouncil.org.uk and whether you plant a tree in a pot on your doorstep, a hedge in your garden or organise a community event at a local park, every tree will help us grow a greener future together.

In recognition of National Tree Week and following on from our webinar with the Marine Conservation Society the NGSU Green Advisory Group are hosting their second environmental webinar on Wednesday 7th December with the Woodland Trust.

The Woodland Trust’s will be talking to us about their latest campaign to give our oldest ancient and veteran trees legal protection. The UK is host to thousands of remarkable trees that are hugely valuable for wildlife and hold cultural significance too, we will be discussing some of the threats they face and the work that is being undertaken to protect them. Come and join in on 7th December from 1:30, simply email matt@ngsu.org.uk for the invite.
