Supporting our Members and Representatives

INDIVIDUAL CASES OFFICER

Job Share (3 days) – Swindon (based in NH) plus some travel

Starting on a salary of £36,000 (Pro-rata 3 days £21,600)

We are looking for someone to join our team as part of a job-share arrangement. The role is based in Nationwide House (NH) in Swindon and is for 3 days a week, normally Wednesday to Friday.

Although the position is based in Swindon, we will sometimes ask you to support members throughout the country to fulfil demands and delivery expectations. We may also ask you to occasionally work in the Bournemouth Admin Centre (BAC).

We are looking for someone with a passion for helping people, who is organised, energetic, diplomatic and self-motivated but is also a strong team player to work with our members and our Representatives in Swindon.

We aim to offer our members the very best representation possible and we’d expect that same commitment from you. You will advise, support and represent our members on all aspects of their employment and they will need to rely on your expertise to consult and negotiate with Nationwide’s managers and P&C function.

You will also find yourself working with and supporting our elected Representatives to enable them to represent their members’ views to Nationwide’s leadership teams; to raise the profile of the Union, demonstrating the benefits of a strong union; and to be active in the recruitment of new members.

Another major part of the role is supporting our members through the change process and liaising with P&C and senior managers; the ability to challenge in a constructive way is key to this part of the role.

It’s clearly a wide-ranging brief that won’t suit someone with a narrow focus. Ideally, you will have some experience of supporting employees, either within a union, in a voluntary organisation or in an HR/Personnel role.

We will provide you with a full induction into the role, support and help to enable you to fulfil the role and meet the high standards we set ourselves. Please call Karin McKenzie 07725680446, Diana 07740029124, or Michelle on 07711781033 – if you require any further information. Please email us at ngsu@ngsu.org.uk with your CV together with a covering letter explaining why you would be suited to this important role within the Union by the closing date of Friday 6th March.
