A number of proposed policy changes were discussed and the JCNC received presentations from a number of guests.

Andrew Barker attended to discuss a number of proposed changes to the Gifts and Hospitality Policy, which included changes to some approval and recording requirements. The NGSU requested that the Society consider the implications of the changes, particularly within the branch network and the Society agreed to reflect on this feedback.

Jason Skinner outlined some proposed changes arising from the annual review of the Internal Fraud Policy and it was agreed to share these with NGSU for comment.

Changes to the Data Protection Policy, explained by Tom Dear, were agreed. These were communicated by Joint Statement on 30 March.

The JCNC noted the ongoing policy reviews of the Harassment and Bullying and Conflict of Interest policies.

The NGSU raised a request with the Society arising from the 2015 Conference motions regarding FPMs/MCs attending training courses on return from prolonged absence (for example maternity or sick leave) and the JCNC discussed ways to balance retraining requirements with individual flexibility. It was agreed to further consider this request. Louisa Flaviani returned to JCNC to provide an update on the NGSU request to reintroduce holiday selling, which was still under consideration.

The JCNC discussed ways to better track the progress of discussions through the JCNC and Employee Involvement Committee as well as work that was underway to support the understanding of the relationship between Nationwide and NGSU. The JCNC noted the regular update on Pensions. A number of actions were agreed. The next JCNC will take place on 21 April 2016.
