The Joint Consultation and Negotiation Committee received presentations from a number of guests.
Irum Mirza gave an update on rewards activities and the Interim Pay Review for employees who had been rated as Part Met in April but had improved this rating in October 2014.
Iain Baines and David Cook provided the regular pensions update including an overview of changes to pensions legislation occurring in April 2015, noting that these were to be communicated to affected members at a later date.
Caia Slater gave an update on the People workstream of the Enabling a Great Place to Work programme.
The JCNC discussed a number of ongoing policy reviews. Paul Durkin presented proposals to provide further clarification to the operation of the existing Location Allowance Policy. Mary Skinner discussed proposed changes to the car insurance excesses and Gail Restall returned to the JCNC to provide a progress update on the introduction of Shared Parental Leave during 2015.
Tracy Conwell outlined the results of a benchmarking exercise of car allowances and long service awards, which was in response to an NGSU request to review these areas. Further activities were agreed.
Iain Rusling returned to JCNC to provide an update on a pilot activity to test and strengthen Group security arrangements.
The JCNC noted the requirement for ongoing discussions relating to a recent Employment Appeals Tribunal concerning the calculation of holiday pay, although it was noted that it would be some time before the full implications of this would be known.
A number of actions were agreed. The next JCNC will take place on 6 January 2015.
