I have made formal representations to the Society to close branches on Saturdays to further reduce the risk of exposure to Covid-19 for branch teams. I have made the point that many competitors have taken this action and that for Nationwide to follow suit would be a tangible way to back up the statements that employees’ safety is a priority.
I have also raised concerns about the provision of sanitiser gel. I understand that there are supply problems and stocks are being diverted to the NHS. I have expressed the view that the Society could limit the exposure to risk by closing on Saturdays.
I believe that the message has been heard. Although there is an expectation that branches will open tomorrow (where there are sufficient employees available), future opening on Saturdays is now under review.
We will continue to update our website regularly (in particular, check https://ngsu.org.uk/blog/category/covid-19/). If you have not already done so – or if the local situation has changed since you did – please complete our online survey.
Take care,
